Column Mailboxes
A mailbox is much more than something than keeping your mail safe until you have the chance to collect it. It is also one of the contributing elements to the overall external appearance of your house. In case you didn’t know, there are several different types of readymade mailboxes available in the market and all of these are created with the hopes of serving the dual purposes of functioning as temporary mail storage and an element that enhances the appearance of the house.
Mounted mailboxes are a type of mailbox that is often common in urban areas. These generally come in the shape of a box that is attached to the external wall of the house within easy access to someone who carries the mail. Just like all other mailboxes, mounted mailboxes also allow home owners to secure their mail by locking the mailbox.
When it comes to rural areas, mail carriers don’t often walk about delivering the letters and packages. Instead, they will employ delivery vans or trucks to make sure that the mail reaches the correct addresses. Since it is highly inconvenient for the mail carriers to get off the truck and walk to the mailbox to put the mail in, curbside mailboxes are used to make things easier for the mail carriers as well as the owners of the house. Since large estates are a common sight in rural areas, mailboxes are often erected close to the road and well away from the house. These mailboxes are also cubical in appearance, and are often erected on poles where someone can easily access the box from inside a delivery truck.
Both of these mailbox designs are fairly obvious to the naked eye and will require special attention if they are to be added to the aesthetic appearance of the house. However, column mailboxes are a perfect way to conceal your mailbox from appearing too obvious for a pleasant appearance and to keep your mail away from thieving hands. Column mailboxes, as the name suggests, are made to resemble a column and is often regarded and seen as a part of the external wall of the house. Sometimes column mailboxes can be as plain as a regular mailbox mounted on a column. But if you are intent on adding to the aesthetic appearance of your house, you may want to a settle on column mailboxes that are created especially with the intention of blending in with the rest of the house. Column mailboxes often come with one or several openings for the mail to be collected. It is not unlikely to see column mailboxes with several openings as it is possible to fit more than one collection box inside a column. Column mailboxes are the most economic mailboxes to construct as they will most likely be constructed of brick and will last a much longer time in comparison to other variations.
